magic

I am not an expert in the Garden but I do know the power of gardening to make the world a far nicer place to be in.

The best way to deal with any kind of mental pain, anxiety, depression, is to get into the garden and grow things, anything.

I garden as much as I can...BUT...a lot of what I call gardening is basically standing in the garden and looking at stuff like dirt, stones, grass, plants, flowers and trees.

I look  for long periods of time deciding what I want to do with it all, then I usually do nothing and go at look at other stuff.

I love to see birds in my garden. I have a  tree in my front yard, outside my bedroom window, that I have festooned with bird feeders.
I feed the multitude of Spoogies (Sparrows)  and Green Finches that gather for a free meal.
Have various platforms, hanging feeders and put seed on the ground too.
Not all birds like to eat the same seed, or like eating out of a swinging feeder.

In my back yard.  I have huge trees in the back yard.  Native and Fruit trees.  In the back garden is a massive sweet cherry (that we never get to harvest because of the birds).

A herb garden in a fridge behind my favourite planter my Scotty made for me.

We have a lot of fruit trees and bushes.  In the front yard we have, peaches, plums, figs and lemons.

Put water in the garden.  Pots or bowls out for all the wildlife that will wander or fly into your garden.

I grow salad leaves and herbs outside the front door.  Put the things you eat the most closer to the house.

So have a range. I put out dry cat food and chopped apple for the black birds.  The natives like Tui, Kereru, Wax eyes feed on the many varied harakeke and kowhai.   Piwakawaka hang out for the insects.

The rascals like Black birds are munching into all the fruit in the back yard so we leave a lot on the trees.

Our swimming tank.  At the back of our garden.

We also have apples, plums, blue berries, raspberries, strawberries, lemons, Mandarin and  Fejoa.

Lemons, plums and peaches.

Strawberries grow in a planter on the side of the path.
